BACKGROUND: District attorney of 5th Judicial District, an office where he's worked as a prosecutor since 1997.
Mark Hurlbert was appointed District Attorney for the Fifth Judicial District in December 2002. He is the chief prosecutor for the counties of Summit, Eagle, Clear Creek and Lake.
Mark has lived in Summit County since 1979 and is a graduate of Summit High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado.
Mark has worked in the District Attorney’s office since 1993 where he began his service as an intern under then District Attorney Pete Michaelson. In 1994 he was appointed Deputy District Attorney and has also held the positions of Chief Deputy District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney. Mark served as the lead prosecutor for all felonies in Summit County and successfully prosecuted the murder case against Charles Garrison. As District Attorney he personally tries all first-degree murder cases and many second-degree murder cases in the district.
Mark currently serves on several non-profit boards that focus on victim and child advocacy. He lives in Breckenridge with his wife Cathy and two children Jack and Cydney.

Eagle County Judge Frederick Gannett stopped the hearing, had the courtroom cleared
There were bruises to the vagina which Kobe's lawyer, Pamela Mackey, countered during her cross-examination of the Eagle County sheriff, by asking if the accuser's injuries would be consistent with someone who had sex with three different men in three days.
Eagle County Sheriff's Detective Doug Winters testified that the alleged victim told investigators that Bryant attacked her from behind, grabbed her by the neck and forced himself on her despite resistance.
There was also startling evidence of blood found on the inside of Kobe's shirt that is a perfect match to the alleged victim.
