FAMOUS COURT TRIALSHoward Stern - The King of All Media?
The Law, Decency and the FCC
Howard Stern is ready to talk dirty (1/9/06-Monday) on Sirius
Insiders debate effect of the shock jock's lucrative switch to uncensored satellite.
You can only tune in to Stern on Sirius Channel if you've bought a Sirius radio and are a subscriber willing to pay the $150-a-year fee just to hear him talk.
The move has a lot of risk for Stern. He's giving up a solid base of 12 million listeners
in return for a subset of Sirius's 3.5 million subscribers.
How many of those 3.5 million will be tuning in to Howard?
If half tune in, that's 1.75 million listeners -- a small fraction of his former reach.
He has taken an incredible risk and he maybe gone and forgotten by the end of the year! Does a tree make a sound if it falls in the woods and no one hears it///him.
Stern's move to subscriber-based satellite radio has jacked up the competition between Sirius and its larger competitor , XM Satellite Radio which currently has some 6 million subscribers.
