Summary
The Export-Import Bank supports the financing of U.S. goods and services, turning export opportunities into real transactions, maintaining and creating more U.S. jobs. They also assume credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept.

Export-Import Bank Policies

They are developing social issues and development objectives as well as relevant World Bank operational policies.

  • Foreign Content: there are foreign content eligibility criteria and limitations on the level of foreign content to 15% that may be included in Ex-Im Bank’s financing package.
  • Local Cost: provides medium- or long-term guarantee, loan, or insurance support for U.S. exports for foreign projects.
  • Economic Impact: Quick processing for U.S. exporters who operate in a tough, competitive /global/ marketplace that demands the rapid and efficient processing of transactions.
  • Shipping: Loan guarantee programs that are transported by ocean vessel must be shipped in vessels of U.S. registry.
  • Co-Financing: Ex-Im Bank currently has a bilateral agreement with ECGD, (U.K.) EDC (Canada) and is in discussions with other ECAs to sign bilateral agreements.
  • Military: Ex-Im Bank is prohibited by law from financing defense articles and defense services.
  • Environment: Loan and guarantee programs for"Environmental Exports Program" which increases the level of support it provides to exporters of environmentally beneficial goods and services
  • Budgetary Data & Statistics
    For FY04, Ex-Im Bank has a carry-over budget is sufficient to authorize the entire $14.6 billion in export credit demand we anticipated for 2004.

    Ex-Im Bank's Impact
    Nationwide, Ex-Im Bank has supported nearly 11,000 transactions with $65.5 billion in authorized financing in the past five years. More than 2,000 communities across the United States directly benefited from this support. Ex-Im Bank's financing annually sustains an estimated 200,000 jobs directly among exporters and suppliers and another one million jobs indirectly among subsuppliers.

    In WASHINGTON, the Export-Import Bank has supported 30 communities, 71 companies and financed a total of $20,635.43 million in exports during the last five years. Ex-Im Bank financing has sustained an estimated 299,212 jobs and contributed to the success of many local communities.
